OPEN WINTER MEETING – Stirlingshire Monitor Farm
WEDNESDAY 11 OCTOBER 2023
6pm – 8.30pm
Lands of Drumhead Balfron Station G63 0NH
Ovine pulmonary adenocarcinoma (OPA) is a contagious lung tumour of sheep, which impairs lung function. The disease is also commonly known as Jaagsiekte. Whilst no vaccine or treatment is available, there have been recent advances in ultrasound detection which can assist you with proactive management decisions for your flock.
Endrick vets have carried out screening of the Duncan’s sheep flocks and will share their experiences of the screening process which will be demonstrated by vet Tony McAuley and lead to a full discussion along with OPA researcher Dr Chris Cousens.
Vet Tony and the Duncan Family will discuss the results of recent blood testing carried out on the sheep flock covering what the test results show and how to act on results, what Iceberg diseases to consider testing for, and the economic value of blood testing.
